like a fine wine

What is age anyway? I'm in a relationship with this great guy. Some friends and family joke that he looks like my dad which I find rather funny since he's only 10 years older than me. I guess I look younger than I am, or maybe I just act younger. A dear friend of mine who's turning 21 told me today that her parents think I'm a bad influence on her (These are the same people who forced her to join the military at 17 or be kicked out of their home). I offered to pretend I was her lesbian lover to keep her out of the military so I guess some might think I'm a bad influence. I prefer to see myself as the loyal opposition.

My definition of old is someone who won't try new things and is close-minded. My boyfriend is a doctor and at first appearance he looks conservative. Looks can be deceiving. He's wild, uninhibited, will try anything, is open to new experiences and is more fun than most people I've known.

I've met people in their 20s who act older than some people in their 70s. It's all in your head and how you view and live your life. Our society puts such an emphasis on youth and a youthful appearance, but a youthful look without substance amounts to very little. All the plastic surgery in the world won't make you an interesting person. Give me intelligence, creativity, openmindedness. Better to have a wonderful brain hiding under some grey hair than a wrinkle-free face masking a shallow and empty mind.

I agree too! Despite the tender age of 23, I'm not acting what 'young' people are supposed to do. I find it quite amusing that others often complain of our 'self-centered' culture.
